Barbara Chapman My name is Barbara Chapman and I am a Literacy Specialist for grades 2-4. I moved to Vermont from Martha’s Vineyard to pursue my degree in education. The goal was to move back to the Vineyard, but once I came, there was no going back.
After receiving my degree in education from Lyndon State College I went on and got my masters from Trinity College of Vermont. And many, many years ago I graduated from the University of Massachusetts with a degree in Hotel/Restaurant Management.
This is my 11th year at Burke Town School and my 26th year teaching.
I love being a reading interventionist. The best part of my day is seeing that light bulb go on in a child’s head when he/she realizes the words can be decoded, the characters come alive and stories have deeper meaning.
I live in East Burke with my husband Charlie. When I find a few free moments I love to read or be outdoors; walking, snowshoeing and kayaking,
