September 2018 K.ingdom E.ast A.fterschool P.rogram Burke Town School Dear Parents, Welcome to another new, exciting school year with K.E.A.P. My name is Carlie Lavallee and I am the new Site Coordinator for Burke Town School’s Afterschool Program. I am so excited to be able to lead the Afterschool program for your students and I look forward to meeting each and every one of you. Alan left me an amazing program with big shoes to fill, but I look forward to a great year with exciting new experiences. A little about myself, I am a new resident of Vermont who just came from Alaska. My husband was a teacher in the Alaskan bush, which means that while he was working I spent a lot of my time working with the kids in extracurricular programs. I have worked with kids anywhere from Preschool to 12th grade for the past two years and have enjoyed every moment of it. Before that, I was the activities director for a nursing home and a community coordinator with the Refugee and Immigration Services in Missouri. I love being outdoors, crafting, and learning new things, and I would love to share these with your students. I am so delighted to be joining a great team of individuals who I’m sure are familiar to you: Miss April who is our head cafeteria chef and loves to cook with the K-4 students and the new Mrs. Park who teaches 3rd Grade who enjoys playing with her pet bunny Lila when she’s not helping in afterschool. In addition to myself, Miss Niki will be joining the Afterschool team. She is our new administrative assistant in the office and she enjoys being outdoors and coaching sports. We have a new district, which means lots of new programming and new information. Please read all the attached information carefully. There are new forms and information about mini-courses, sign-ups, scheduling and introduction week. The first day of Afterschool will be Monday, September 17th kicking off with Introduction Week. Session I Enrichment Calendar starts the following week, September 24th. Introduction Week will be different that our Session I programming and offer a taste of some of the different activities we will offer this year.
Please sign-up for Introductory Week if you plan to attend. Parents are welcome too!Attendance at the Intro Week is free for all district K-8 students. However, for safety reasons, completion of the KEAP Emergency Contact & Student Information Form is absolutely REQUIRED for any student who would like to attend. This Sign Up form lets us know which days to expect your child. This is necessary so that we have enough snack, supplies and staff for the safety of all attendees The schedule for Session I will be organized the following way: Monday
Tuesday-Thursday
Sign-ups for mini-courses will be available during Introduction Week. Not All Enrichment courses have enrollment caps, so don’t be discouraged if you don’t get your student signed-up for a mini-course. We are asking that all students who plan to attend Afterschool sign-up for something so that we know which students to expect on which days. Please carefully read all information and fully complete all attached forms to enroll your child in the Afterschool Program. Feel free to call me at Burke Town School if you have any questions or send me an email at clavallee@kingdomeast.org. I am so thrilled to be starting this adventure with all of you.
